Hi, I’m Monet Goode.

~Nois Quartet/~Nois Performing Arts Organization is thrilled to announce their exciting new commissioning initiative: 10 for 10. In their 10th anniversary season, the group will commission and premiere 10 works to celebrate the 10 years of the ensemble. All of the new works will be premiered and recorded in Chicago during the 2026/27 season and toured throughout the country in subsequent years.

~Nois was founded in 2016 with the mission to promote the saxophone quartet as an exceptional avenue for chamber music and support the next generation of composers. The organization aims to create a future of repertoire that is diverse and equitable, while influencing the next generation of listeners to embrace a wide variety of styles and perspectives found in classical music.

10 for 10 features both emerging and established composers from all walks of life. Two of these commissions are done in partnership with the Luna Composition Lab, a non-profit organization that provides mentorship and performance opportunities to young composers who are female, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming.

~Nois’ 10 for 10 Commissions are made possible through ~Nois’ New Works fund which is generously supported in part by: Anonymous, Nova Linea Music Inc., and the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard.

Co-presented by the Jewel Box Series at Northeastern Illinois University

Every year, ~Nois concerts around the globe lead to new projects, pieces, and friends… but not every audience member is able to directly follow and see these collaborations in person. Because of this, each spring ~Nois brings the fruits of a full season of music-making back to the city of Chicago in an annual show. DISCOVERY is a night which showcases the most exceptional new music in the world from the comfort of your own local Chicago neighborhood.

JOY IS COMING

Friday, June 11, 2027

6:30 PM | DePaul University

The centerpiece of this program is three-time GRAMMY-nominated Christopher Cerrone’s Joy is Coming. In this new commission, Cerrone adapts the poetry of Kim Addonizio, whose raw, confessional but ultimately optimistic poetry has already inspired one collaboration between Cerrone and Kesselman. This project seeks to continue the collaboration — constituting a kind of "Addonizio cycle" of the composer reacting to her intense and often fragile poetry.

Featuring guest soprano: Lindsay Kesselmann

Premieres by Christopher Cerrone & Nicolás Lell Benavides
